The 3rd China railway computer interlocking technology conference, hosted by Automation Committee of China Railway Society and undertaken by CASCO Signal Ltd., was successfully held in Shanghai from October 30 to 31. The conference aims to accelerate the development of China railway computer interlocking technology and railway signaling industry, and help "build China's strength in transportation by prioritizing construction of railways".

The meeting was presided over by Zhao Yang, Secretary General of Automation Committee of China Railway Society, and attended by leaders and guests such as Liu Chaoying, Chairman of Automation Committee of China Railway Society, and Li Wentao, Deputy Director of C&S Section of Department of Communication & Signaling and Power Supply of China State Railway Group.
In his opening remarks, Liu Chaoying mentioned that the railway industry in China was developing rapidly at the moment. With the continuous application of various new technologies, it put forward higher requirements for computer interlocking technology in areas like technical standards, system research and development, equipment production, design and construction, maintenance and management, etc. To further promote the development of computer interlocking, we must adhere to our strengths and learn from others; improve the system by satisfying the needs; make breakthroughs in key areas with safety in mind; and innovate with self-developed and leading technology. He hoped that people from the railway signaling and computer interlocking industry would be courageous to meet the challenges and take on the responsibility, and make new and greater contributions to the rapid development of China's railway industry and the historical mission of "building China's strength in transportation and prioritizing construction of railways".

This conference has three focuses. In the morning session on October 30, representatives from seven units delivered reports with focus on improving the maintenance and management of computer interlocking equipment from different perspectives. In this session, CASCO presented a detailed report titled "Improving the Preventive Maintenance Capability of Computer Interlocking Equipment", as the representative of signaling system equipment manufacturers. In the afternoon session on October 30, the conference was divided into two seminars: electrical engineering seminar and design seminar. The first seminar focused on electricity and power themes, where the leaders and experts from railway authorities and institutes and representatives from equipment manufacturers conducted extensive and in-depth discussions, on topics of operation and management of interlocking equipment and existing problems over the past year, as well as the working plans in the future. In the second seminar, experts from research and design institutes and representatives of manufacturers hold warm discussions on various topics such as preparation of drawings, solutions and standards during the design process of computer interlocking. On the morning of October 31, delegates in the conference visited the Production Line of Computer Interlocking Equipment, and Shanghai Engineering Research Center of Driverless Train Control of Urban Guided Transport, which was built by CASCO.

This conference attracted many professional elites in the industry, and the participants held in-depth discussions and exchanged ideas and suggestions on the current situation, operation and maintenance, as well as future development of computer interlocking technology. The conference participants reached a consensus that computer interlocking equipment is critical to the safety of railway operations, and our most fundamental task is to ensure the safety of interlocking equipment. At the same time, full-electronic interlocking technology, integrated interlocking technology, and cloud interlocking technology could help upgrade the intelligent construction, equipment, operation and maintenance and safety of China's railway across the board. In the meantime, major breakthroughs in scientific and technological innovation of intelligent railway will be made. The safety support and sustainable development of computer interlocking technology will provide strong support for the high-quality development of railways, and make new contributions to building a country with powerful transportation technology!
