On August 23, 2019, the Signing Ceremony for “Communication and Signaling System Procurement and Maintenance Framework Contract for 10th of Ramadan Railway Project in Egypt” was successfully held in CASCO Urban Rail Center. Witnessed by all representatives there, China Huaxin – CASCO Consortium and CREC – AVIC INTL Consortium, general contractor, signed the project business contract, marking another breakthrough in introducing Chinese rail transit signaling system in countries along the “Belt and Road”.

The 10th of Ramadan Railway is a light rail that connects Cairo downtown, 10th of Ramadan and the new administrative capital, with a total length of around 74 kilometers and 11 stations. CASCO will provide a completely localized Urbalis 888 CBTC signaling system solution for this project. It is the first time to apply this system in the old country of Egypt, which will provide technology-leading, safe and reliable urban rail signaling system support for Egyptian users.

10th of Ramadan is an important satellite town in Cairo, the capital of Egypt. It is also the place where the first industrial zone was established by Egyptian government in desert area. Upon completion, 10th of Ramadan Railway will play an important role in transportation to and from Cairo and the new administrative capital, effectively reduce the traffic pressure over Cairo and facilitate daily commute of nearly 5 million residents in more than 10 satellite towns, so that Egyptian citizens will travel easily and efficiently.
