On April 18, the 18th China Electronics and Information Annual Conference kicked off in Chengdu. Simultaneously, the specialized forum "Intelligent Transportation Driven by Industrial Software", led by CASCO, brought together elites from across the transportation sector to explore how industrial software can empower new developments in the transportation industry amid the AI revolution, accelerating the arrival of the intelligent transportation era.

Chen Ying, Vice President and Secretary-General of the Chinese Institute of Electronics, delivered the opening remarks. Over a dozen experts, including Academician He Jifeng of the Chinese Academy of Sciences and Wang Xiaoyong, General Manager of CASCO's Urban Rail Product Center, delivered keynote speeches, and engaged in insightful discussions on forward-looking technologies and practical cases.

Industrial Software Empowers Intelligent Rail Transit

In the development of intelligent transportation, industrial software has played a pivotal role in driving digital transformation and intelligent upgrades across the industry. Today, as emerging technologies like AI rapidly evolve, China's industrial software is transitioning from "tool substitution" to "AI-driven empowerment", providing stronger support for realizing the grand vision of intelligent transportation.

In his keynote speech titled "The Intelligence of Industrial Software," Academician He Jifeng stated that the deep integration of industrial software with new technologies such as AI will reshape the entire process of smart manufacturing. This integration will enhance resource efficiency across all links and propel the industry toward safer, more efficient, and smarter upgrades.

With the powerful support of intelligent industrial software, China's urban rail construction has achieved digital and intelligent leapfrog development in recent years. CASCO's launch of Xi Digital Urban Rail Transit Solution (XiDRT) in 2024 exemplifies the fusion of industrial software and AI.

Wang Xiaoyong introduced that XiDRT, based on self-developed open digital base, integrates two core platforms—Intelligent Operation Control and Intelligent O&M, which act as the "intelligent brain" and the "health manager" protecting the train operation.

For instance, the "Intelligent Operation Control" platform assesses wheel-rail adhesion in real-time during extreme weather like rain or snow. Using advanced statistical analysis, it identifies slip-risk zones across lines and employs adaptive control strategies to reduce slip incidents. Meanwhile, the "Intelligent O&M" platform enables 7x24-hour dynamic monitoring of equipment, processes, and systems for real-time health management. Recently, CASCO's Intelligent O&M Platform has integrated DeepSeek large models, upgrading from a "Q&A assistant" to an "auxiliary diagnostic tool" with over 99.7% accuracy, which has been validated in field tests.

Data shows that under unchanged resource conditions, the XiDRT solution significantly improves resource efficiency across urban rail operation. By optimizing human-machine interactions through data-driven approaches, it reduces fault handling and emergency response time by an estimated 30%, streamlines roles and business integration, lowers labor and management costs, and delivers more efficient, safer, and reliable services for passengers.

The empowerment of rail transit by industrial software is more than that. Leveraging its technological leadership in intelligent control, CASCO is expanding beyond rail to low-altitude, crafting an integrated "underground-ground-low-altitude" transportation system. In late 2024, CASCO supported the maiden flight of the first low-altitude logistics route in Shanghai Jing'an District and launched the low-altitude intelligent management platform in partnership with Shibei Hi-Tech Park. This platform provides airspace control, route planning, flight monitoring, low-altitude inspections, and logistics services, pioneering low-altitude application scenarios.

Advancing Industrial Collaboration to Boost Chengdu's Development

Recently, the Chengdu State-owned Assets Supervision and Administration Commission announced 2025 Q1 investment results, with 4.27 billion yuan allocated to strategic emerging sectors like rail transit and low-altitude economy, underscoring the city's commitment to "smart city" and "intelligent transportation".

As an active contributor to Chengdu's smart transportation, CASCO has driven intelligent upgrades of the city's rail network through technological innovation. From the commission of Chengdu Metro Line 9, the first fully automatic driverless line in southwest China, CASCO continues to inject innovation into Chengdu's rail transit via the application of digital intelligence technologies such as smart dispatching, smart O&M, and smart depot, setting a new benchmark for intelligent urban rail development.

"The opportunity for intelligent rail transit is here with advancements in industrial software," Wang Xiaoyong noted. "However, building smart transportation is a systemic process requiring collaborative innovation and deep integration across the entire industrial chain."

To accelerate industrial developemnt, CASCO called for deeper strategic partnerships among research institutions, academic bodies, enterprises, and clients at the forum. By leveraging complementary strengths and shared outcomes, the aim is to advance the construction of an ecological industrial chain, and accelerate the iteration and application of new technologies.
