On August 27 2015, Shanghai Zhangjiang Hi-Tech District Management Committee convened an examination meeting of the industrialization of independent innovation of rail transit train control system, a project undertaken by CASCO Signal Ltd.
The acceptance of the project is an important link for CASCO to realize the strategic target of fully independent train control system. Thanks to the support from Shanghai government and various committees, CASCO solved core technology and completed pilot test in Zhangjiang. In 2013, Zhangjiang Hi-Tech Committee funded CASCO to realize the business breakthrough and secure a major project of product industrialization, which is the first city-level major scientific project with government fund of 7 million yuan.
After two years of efforts, the project team achieved all the targets promised in the contract, realized supply chain and platform of CASCO’s independent CBTC system, and earned the large-scale project application ability. CASCO has won the CBTC signaling system project of Ethiopia Addis Ababa LRT and Shanghai Line 17, overfulfilling the economic target. Meanwhile, the project accomplished 7 patent applications, 7 software copyright applications and 6 software product registrations, all of which have passed SIL4 safety certification.

The experts and leaders from Zhangjiang Hi-Tech District Management Committee listened to the report by the project team, examined the related files and gave high appraisal to CASCO’s success in signing Shanghai Line 17, the first Shanghai metro line with independent CBTC signaling system and Ethiopia LRT project abroad. They not only agreed to the acceptance of the project, but also believed that it ended the history of long-term dependence on foreign rail transit control technology, and made positive contribution to the building of Shanghai Technology Innovation Center and China’s “One Belt One Road” strategy.
