Recently, CASCO successfully completed dynamic testing and verification of CBTC signaling system based on 4G LTE communication technology on Wuhan Line 4, a passenger-carrying line in operation, making it the first in the industry once again and laying solid foundation for applying 4G LTE technology to rail transit signaling system.
At present, CBTC system mainly adopts WLAN of 2.4G public channel to realize train-ground communication. With the increasing construction of WLAN and its growing popularity in the city, the metro line based on CBTC is more easily disturbed by 2.4G system outside. 4G LTE technology, on the other hand, can provide more private specialized channel and load more customized applications, which could cut the construction cost and further promote the reliability of the train operation by avoiding the problem caused by WiFi technology. Therefore, the application change from WiFi-based to 4G LTE-based becomes the development trend of train-ground communication in the rail transit signaling field around the globe.
CASCO took lead in completing the integration testing of 4G LTE technology and CBTC signaling system successfully on Wuhan Line 4, which made the breakthrough from conceptual testing to actual operation and set example for the companies in the industry. Moreover, it used LTE onboard terminal developed independently by CASCO, which integrates two LTE chips and makes it possible to connect Net A and B in LTE network as well as WiFi equipment. After more than 10 days of testing on mainline, the whole system went well.
In the future, CASCO will accelerate the application of 4G LTE to rail transit signaling system so as to push forward the development of control system and provide more convenient traveling for the public.
