In November 2019, Shanghai Intellectual Property Administration announced the winners for the first Shanghai Intellectual Property Innovation Award. Among them, CASCO's invention patent, A Smart Fault Diagnosis Method for Rail Transit Equipment (Patent No.: 201110060816.X), won the second prize, making CASCO the only award-winning company in Jing'an District.

The Intellectual Property Innovation Award, as an "upgraded version" of Shanghai Invention Patent Award, is jointly awarded by Shanghai Municipal government and the World Intellectual Property Organization for the very first time, making its value and influence much greater. The award is to recognize organizations in Shanghai with outstanding performance in creation, protection, and utilization of intellectual properties. Meanwhile, the award covers the entire process of intellectual property creation, protection, and utilization, with a wider and more comprehensive scope, making higher and stricter demand for companies in intellectual property innovation and application. After rigorous screening for over 5 months, only 22 invention patents were shortlisted out of 227 proposed patents and trademarks citywide, and CASCO’s patent was one of them.

CASCO's participating patent not only has a number of technologically innovative breakthroughs, but have also been successfully applied to CASCO's signal monitoring system, which greatly improves the operation and maintenance efficiency and automation of signaling equipment, cuts down costs of operation and maintenance, and advances the development of related technologies in the industry. Currently, the system has been utilized on a number of domestic subway lines, national and local railways, as well as overseas projects for the “Belt and Road” initiative. With broad application prospects, it has successfully realized transformation of intellectual property achievements and shows positive commercial returns and social benefits.

This award once again proofed that CASCO‘s made a great leap in self-dependent innovation and a steady improvement in intellectual property protection and utilization after cultivating in this field for years. From an “Outstanding Shanghai Enterprise in Intellectual Property" to “Outstanding National Enterprise in Intellectual Property ", CASCO gradually and steadily grew into a strong local and industrial intellectual property giant.
