Zhangjiajie and Changde Welcomes Their First High Speed Trains, Breathing New Air into Former Jinggangshan Revolutionary Base Areas

27 Dec 2019

On December 26, 2019, Qianjiang-Changde Railway and Nanchang–Ganzhou high-speed railway officially entered commercial sevice, which not only further improved China’s eight vertical and eight horizontal high-speed railway network, but also usher former revolutionary bases and ethnic minority areas along the lines into a new high-speed railway transportation era.

Qianjiang-Changde Railway is an important part of the main pathway between Chongqing, Changsha, and Xiamen in the eight vertical and eight horizontal high-speed railway network. The length of the currently operating railway line is 336.257 kilometers with 15 stations.

Zhangjiangjie West Station

As an indispensable ecological line, cultural line, poverty alleviation line and tourism line for Chongqing, Hubei, and Hunan high-speed railway networks, the opening of Qianjiang-Changde Railway not only marks a first high-speed train for Zhangjiajie and Changde, but also fills the railway network gap in the border areas of Chongqing, Hubei, and Hunan. It is significant in promoting tourism in areas along the line, alleviating poverty for former revolutionary areas, minority areas, inner continent border areas, and under-developed areas, as well as advancing the economic growth there.

Qianjiang-Changde Dispatching Station

CASCO provided FZk-CTC3.0 centralized dispatching system for Qianjiang-Changde Railway. During the implementation, CASCO team overcame difficulties brought about by tight schedules, difficult construction conditions, and multiple interfaces with existing lines to deliver a high quality project on schedule, and finally secured a smooth opening for Qianjiang-Changde Railway.

Nanchang–Ganzhou high-speed railway, another critical line for the eight vertical and eight horizontal high-speed railway network, also dispatched its first train on December 26. It starts in Nanchang, the birthplace of the Chinese People's Liberation Army, and passes through Jinggangshan, Ji’an, the cradle of the Chinese Communist Revolution, and arrives in the former red capital, Ganzhou. The line is also called “the reddest high-speed railway” as travelers can arrive at Nanchang the August 1st Uprising Memorial Hall, Jinggangshan Revolutionary Base Area, Chinese Soviet Republic in Ruijin, Sanwan Reorganizaiton Site and other communism tourist sites along the line.

Nanchang-Ganzhou high-speed railway is 418 kilometers in length with design speed of 350 kilometers per hour. It connects Anqing-Jiujang dedicated passenger railway, Nanchang-Jiujiang high-speed railway, and Ganzhou–Shenzhen high-speed railway. The opening pf the line establishes a one-to-two-hour living/economic center around Nanchang, the capital of Jiangxi Province. The high-speed railway line fuels the development of the former revolutionary base, and plays an important part in advancing the red tourism of South of Jiangxi, which is of great significance to the economic and social development there.

As the supplier of the signaling system for this project, CASCO team overcame the challenges that brought about by the length of Nanchang–Ganzhou high-speed railway, its multiple stations, nighttime reverted tests and commissioning, and successfully equipped it with 19 sets of station FZk-CTC3.0 central dispatching system and two sets of central dispatching console, securing a smooth opening of Nanchang-Ganzhou high-speed railway.

In 2016, the National Development and Reform Commission, the Ministry of Transport, and the China Railway Corporation jointly issued the Medium and Long-term Railway Network Planning, which outlined the grand blueprint of the eight vertical and eight horizontal high-speed railway network in the new age. As a signaling control system integrator which spent years in the field of rail transit signaling, CASCO has played a huge part in providing signaling systems for several critical railway lines in the network, leaving its footprint on the map of modern China railway. Moving forward, CASCO team will continue to carry on the mission of strengthening the country by improving transportation infrastructure, strive to create a safer, more efficient, greener, and smarter transportation experience and makes its contribution to the building of China’s high-speed railway network.
