CASCO Wins Two Bids, Making 110 CBTC Lines in China

17 Dec 2024

Recently, CASCO has consecutively won the bids for the signaling system for Beijing Subway Line 5 Renovation and Wuxi Metro Line 5. With these achievements, CASCO’s CBTC lines has hit 110 in China, showing strong market competitiveness in both the renovation of existing lines and the construction of new lines, and further consolidating its position as an industry leader.

Beijing Subway Line 5 starts from Songjiazhuang Station in Fengtai District and ends at Tiantongyuan North Station in Changping District, with a total length of 27.79 kilometers and 23 stations. As an important north-south line in Beijing's rail transit network, its existing signaling system was opened in 2007. To comprehensively enhance the operation safety and efficiency of the line, CASCO will carry out the integration and renovation of the communication and signaling systems for the ground equipment, including the upgrade and renovation of the entire line's ground signal system and existing communication system equipment, as well as the addition of train-ground wireless communication system.

Wuxi Metro Line 5 starts from Tangcheng Station in Binhu District and ends at Xinyun Road Station in Xinwu District, with a total length of 29.5 kilometers and 24 stations. This line is the first UTO line in Wuxi, and has the capability to interconnect with other lines, supporting future cross-line operation with Wuxi Line 6.

Relying on the construction of this project, CASCO will also take the lead in formulating the Wuxi interconnection standards and establishing the interconnection testing platform, providing standard basis for the construction of more interconnection lines in the future, as well as an experimental and research environment for various signal equipment manufacturers to facilitate the connection between urban rail transit lines and municipal lines in Wuxi and the surrounding Taihu Lake, creating a demonstration model for rail transit interconnection, and providing strong support for the integrated development of the Yangtze River Delta.

To date, CASCO has participated in the construction of four urban rail transit lines in Wuxi, from Line 1, the first CBTC line in Wuxi, to Line S1, the first suburban line in Wuxi, to the innovative practice of fully automated operation and interconnection of Line 5 today. CASCO has been continuously injecting new vitality into the high-quality development of Wuxi Metro with new technologies.

With these two projects, CASCO's new urban rail lines awarded in 2024 have grown to seven. In these projects, vehicle-to-vehicle communication, major revamping and renovation, and multi-mode signal system for suburban line have become popular labels, demonstrating CASCO's leading edge in industry-leading technology. Through continuous technological innovation, CASCO will fully promote urban rail transit towards a smarter, more efficient, and more diversified future, contributing to the vigorous development of the industry.
