Recently, a significant technological achievement conference focusing on intelligent high-speed rail control technology was grandly held at the National Science and Technology Communication Center. Hosted by the China Association for Science and Technology, the conference, themed "A New Era of Ingenious Craftsmanship and Radiant Innovation – The Speeding Intelligent High-Speed Railway", attracted widespread attention both within and outside the industry. At the conference, CASCO unveiled its self-developed Intelligent Railway Hub Automation System for the first time, which was also selected into the digital exhibit library of major technological achievements exhibition by China Association for Science and Technology.
At the conference, Academician He Jifeng from the Chinese Academy of Sciences first introduced CASCO’s Intelligent Railway Hub Automation System, emphasizing its outstanding scientific research value and promotion significance. Subsequently, Wu Xiang, Deputy Chief Engineer of CASCO's Transportation Dispatch Product Center, delivered a fascinating speech on the system's technological innovations, and provided detailed introductions to its unique features and applications.
China boasts the world's largest railway transportation network, with railway hubs serving as core nodes. These hubs face numerous challenges, including large depot scale, extensive transportation network, high train density, frequent emergencies, and complex operation organization. The existing control systems and manual operation mode require further optimization to meet the public's growing expectations for travel safety and efficiency, as well as to enhance the operation and service quality of the hubs.
In response to this situation, CASCO has independently developed the Intelligent Railway Hub Automation System. It deeply integrates technologies such as Beidou Navigation Satellite System, 5G communication, GIS (Geographic Information System), and intelligent video surveillance with traditional control systems (centralized traffic control system) at the hub, creating a comprehensive management and control system tailored for the hubs. It establishes three major platforms: centralized traffic control, integrated sharing, and new technology application, and features five intelligent applications: train operation organization, shunting operation, passenger service, maintenance, and emergency response. The system enables collaborative interaction between systems, optimizes operation process, and improves operation efficiency. For example, the system transforms traditional communication methods through business digitization, enhancing multi-disciplinary collaboration; it changes the traditional manual maintenance planning mode through automatic train operation adjustments; it solves the problem of unknown train positions during widespread delays by intelligently predicting train locations; and it achieves route setting, safety protection of shunting operation, and automatic shunting operation through automatic equipment data collection.
These innovative measures by CASCO have significantly enhanced the efficiency, safety, reliability, and service of railway transportation, marking a milestone in the technological innovation of railway hubs. Currently, the system has been successfully piloted at Guangzhou Baiyun Station, setting a precedent in the national railway industry. It is believed that with the promotion and application of the system, this technological achievement will inject strong momentum into the intelligent upgrade of railway hubs, accelerating the realization of the goal of building a powerful transportation country.
