On July 1, a bullet train slowly departed Kunming South Railway Station before running west. It arrived at Dali 2 hours later, marking the successful opening of Kunming-Guangtong-Dali Intercity Railway, which crosses Yunnan from east to west.

Kunming-Guangtong-Dali Intercity Railway consists of renovated Kunming-Guangtong Railway and Guangtong-Dali Double-track Railway. With a design speed of 200km/h, it runs 280km from Kunming to Dali and uses CTCS-2 train operation control system, which will reduce the travel time from 7h to 2h. CASCO provided interlocking, train operation control, monitoring and temporary speed limit servers for this project, which is CASCO's first real railway integration project in full compliance with the railway integration standards, after integration trial for Nanning-Kunming High-Speed Railway Train Control Project.

CASCO built 37 systems for this project, including 13 LKD2-KA train control center systems, 9 iLOCK computer interlocking systems, 12 CSM-KA centralized signaling monitoring systems, 2 TSRS-KA temporary speed limit server systems and 1 safety data network system, and renovated 9 systems including 5 iLOCK computer interlocking systems, 2 LKD2-KA train control center systems and 2 TSRS-KA temporary speed limit server systems. It will provide strong guarantees for the successful opening and safe operation of Kunming-Guangtong-Dali Intercity Railway.

As a national class I double-track railway, the opening of Kunming-Guangtong-Dali Intercity Railway gives rise to the east-west corridor in Yunnan Province and is of great significance to economic and tourism development in western Yunnan. Meanwhile, this railway is part of Pan-Asian Railway and Yunnan-Tibet Railway, whose east end provides access to the whole country and west end access to the ongoing and existing Dali-Ruili, Dali-Lincang and Dali-Lijiang railways, thus forming a unique traffic network covering both China and other countries. It will promote cooperation and exchange between Yunnan and ASEAN countries, contribute to the economic cooperation belt linking Yunnan to countries in Southeast Asia and South Asia and enable more people to benefit from the Belt and Road Initiative.
