In August 2018, State Intellectual Property Office officially released the list of 2018 National IPR Model Enterprises (GZFGHZ [2018] No. 158). CASCO and other 5 enterprises in Shanghai are on the list.

The candidates must be evaluated in IPR creation ability, application ability, IPR protection ability and strategic management ability, then screened by experts at municipal (ministerial and provincial) and state levels and answer questions on site in State Intellectual Property Office. Notably, an exception was made to put CASCO on the list. It was awarded National IPR Superior Enterprise in 2016. According to the rules, three years have to elapse before it has an opportunity to be a candidate for National IPR Model Enterprise, unless it was rated as an exceptionally excellent enterprise at local level.

Looking back, it took CASCO ten years of hard work to build its IPR system. Starting from scratch in 2008, CASCO was selected as Shanghai Patent Pilot Enterprise in 2010 for achievements in multiple key products and was elevated as Shanghai IPR Superior Enterprise in 2012. Sustained system building in the following 4 years made CASCO become National IPR Superior Enterprise in 2016. This year witnessed it winning the honor of National IPR Model Enterprise with high score, turning a long-cherished wish into reality.

In the past decade, CASCO has made numerous records in IPR by steady and sustained improvement: winning the prize of Shanghai Excellent Software Product for four years in a row, Shanghai Invention Patent Award for three and China Patent Excellence Award, the top patent award at national level for three. Meanwhile, CASCO teams' awareness of IPR protection has evolved from scarce to full involvement. IPR innovation is no longer the simple completion of a task, but real strategic plan, while IPR application is no longer the mere application, but is integrated into the company's operation system.

In the future, CASCO will keep pursuing the strategic policy of "promoting corporate growth driven by independent innovation and protecting technical advantages with IPR", continue advancing IPR system building according to the state's high requirements for model enterprises; and boost independent innovation and rapid transformation of scientific and technological achievements with IPR to effectively drive rapid growth of the company, firmly establish an independent brand in the industry and contribute to the strategy of strengthening the country through IPR.
