On December 26th, the first section of Chengdu Tram Line 2 was officially opened for trial operation. As the first modern tram line in Chengdu, it not only has the first project-level safety certification for trams in China, but is also the first successful opened tram with driver assistance & control in China, which has important industrial demonstration significance.

Chengdu Tram Line 2 is about 39 km with 47 stations in total, which is generally Y-shaped and divided into two sections. Xipi Section starts at Chengdu West Railway Station and ends at Pixian West Station, which is 27.17 kilometers long. The other, Xinhong Section, starts from Xinye Road Station and ends at Hongguang Station, which is 11.87 kilometers long. The section opened this time is from Hexin Road Station to Chenguang Station, with a total length of 13.7 km.

CASCO, as the total integrator of the operation dispatching management and the road traffic control system of Tram Line 2, provided SmarTram intelligent control system for the project. The system organically integrates multiple systems of different professions, such as, tram signaling system, driver assistance & control system, intelligent road transport system and power monitoring system, to create a unified operational command management platform, which reduces the workload of dispatchers while improving operational management efficiency.

In addition, CASCO also provided various new technical support for Tram Line 2. It adopted Driver Assistance & Control (DAC) system of SIL2 safety level for the first time in domestic industry, which provides assistance protection for the driver's visual driving, and could achieve overspeed protection and red light protection, greatly improving driving safety. Moreover, the axle counting system and the interlocking system adopted a network interface based on secure communication protocol, to streamline equipment, reduce possible points of failure, as well as the workload of subsequent operation and maintenance under the premise of ensuring the interface security.

The opening of the first section of Tram Line 2 will provide more convenient, low-carbon, environmentally friendly and comfortable way of traveling for the citizens of Pidu District, promote the multi-type development of Chengdu rail transit, ease the traffic pressure along the line, support the rapid development of new suburban cities, and provide strong support for Chengdu's high-quality construction of cities that fully reflect the new development concept.

CASCO Chengdu Company, which was settled in Chengdu last year, was fully responsible for the design and implementation of the signaling system of Tram line 2. As the southwest headquarter of CASCO, the settlement of Chengdu Company is an important measure for CASCO to open a new journey at the age of thirty and realize the strategic shift. It will undertake the R&D, testing, project implementation, after-sales service and marketing of the signaling system, realize the strategic responsibility of taking Chengdu as the core to radiate the western region, upgrade local service, relay the "Belt and Road" and assist the industrial upgrading, as well as contribute to the construction and operation of local rail transit and high-speed railway networks.
