On July 9 and 10, the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area Metro Industry Convention themed on “New Era, New Technologies, New Development” was held in Shenzhen, gathering experts from different fields of rail transit including six academicians to contribute to the development of the Greater Bay Area. Rail transit technical experts from CASCO were also invited and delivered a speech.
The Grand Convention
As an all-round rail transit control system integrator, CASCO has made frequent efforts in the field of "smart metro" in recent years, and always takes the lead in the industry in terms of cutting-edge technology R&D and engineering applications. In June 2019, CASCO was the first in the industry to launch the "fully automatic operation system 2.0 for smart metro", and provided system solutions with higher functional security and information security by centering on "passenger travel services", helping metro operators further improve the operation and management efficiency. A week ago, CASCO once again achieved a major breakthrough by completing the on-site multi-vehicle driverless testing and verification of China’s first vehicle-to-vehicle communication-based train autonomous circumambulate system (TACS), which sets up a new milestone for the R&D and application of the new-generation train control system in China.

In the convention, Wang Xiaoyong, Technical Director of CASCO, delivered the speech "Smart Transport Control, Smart Operation", and shared with participants the latest achievements of CASCO in the research of smart metro. He elaborated the boosting role of the new-generation TACS system to the fully automatic operation system 2.0 and its significance to the development of smart metro in a simple and profound way, which produced a warm response and widespread resonance among the participants.
Facing the important opportunity brought by the nearly 100 rail transit lines planned for the seven major cities in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, CASCO is determined to respond to the national strategic call, actively assists in the development of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, and deeply ploughs the construction in the smart rail transit field. Up to now, CASCO has provided signaling systems for 9 metro lines in Guangzhou and Shenzhen, and the first solution with weak current deeply integrated in China for Shenzhen Longhua Tram. In Hong Kong, the South Island Line equipped with CASCO’s fully automatic operation train supervision system (FAOTS), was put into operation in 2016, becoming the first fully automatic driverless metro line in Hong Kong. In the field of national railways, CASCO has also actively participated in the construction of important railways such as the Guangzhou-Shenzhen-Hong Kong Express Rail Link, Pearl River Delta Intercity Railway, and Meizhou-Shantou Railway, and will continue to assist in the opening of multiple national railways in the Greater Bay Area, such as Zhuhai Urban-Airport Intercity Railway, Guangzhou-Qingyuan Intercity Railway, Guangzhou–Foshan Ring Line, and Xinbaiguang Intercity Railway.
In the future, CASCO will stick to its mission and deliver more advanced smart and intelligent products and better full life-cycle services, contribute to the creation of "one-hour urban rail transit circle" in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, and guard the safe and efficient travels for citizens in the Greater Bay Area.
In the early morning of August 31, the signaling upgrade and its supporting facilities for the Guangzhou-Shenzhen railway were successfully completed and officially put into operation. CASCO provided the FZk-CTC3.0 system (a centralized traffic control system) for stations and yards throughout this railway line.
This technology will be used on Zhengzhou Metro Line 5 for the first time, marking the first successful application of 5G technology to the rail transit signaling system.
