On March 1, Suzhou Metro Line 11 (formerly S1 Line), which is connected to Shanghai Metro, officially went for trial operation. Under the escort of CASCO's CBTC signaling system, the line will link Suzhou and Shanghai, contributing to the integration development of these two cities.

Suzhou Metro Line 11 is the first county-level suburban metro line in China, with a total length of 41.25 km and 28 stations which are mainly in Kunshan. It starts from Weiting Station in Suzhou Industrial Park in the west and ends at Huaqiao Station in Kunshan in the east, where it connects with Shanghai Metro Line 11.

Safe and efficient with fully automatic operation

Equipped with CASCO's fully automatic CBTC signaling system, Suzhou Metro Line 11 will be the first metro line in Suzhou commissioned with the highest grade of automation (GOA4) at one time.

Since CASCO commissioned the first fully automatic driverless metro line in China in 2014, it has delivered 7 GoA4 driverless lines in China so far, and is also participating in 12 lines under construction, boasting profound technical accumulation and rich project experience.

In this project, CASCO also shouldered the important task of coordinating the consistency of the fully automatic operation system, and was responsible for the coordination and management of disciplines such as signaling, communication, train, comprehensive monitoring, and platform doors, providing a strong guarantee for the smooth progress of the project.

Overall consideration as the consistency coordinator

At the end of 2022, Suzhou Metro Line 11 entered a critical period of project advancement. In order to ensure the opening of the line, the commissioning period was reduced repeatedly. Faced with such tight schedule, CASCO carefully organized and continuously optimized the commissioning process, and started "day + night" 24-hour non-stop commissioning at the front line. Based on the original Suzhou Project Department, many engineers from other places were deployed to the front line for support, forming a synergy to jointly push the project forward.

Thanks to CASCO’s mature product and technology and engineers with rich experience, the commissioning was completed in 2 months as expected.

Working scenario at site

CASCO also gave full play to the role as the consistency coordinator, coordinating the interspersed operations of multiple disciplines on site, strictly controlling each process, gaining valuable time for the efficient advancement of the project, and efficiently completing the commissioning tasks, thus laying a solid foundation for the commissioning.

As the entire line enters the trial operation, CASCO will continue to devote itself to the comprehensive commissioning and operation rehearsal of Suzhou Metro Line 11, strive for achieving the goal of opening in the middle of the year, fulfill the commitment to delivery with high quality, provide a safer, more efficient and convenient travel experience for the residents along the line, and contribute to the rail transit construction in the Yangtze River Delta.
