Industry Forum Successfully Held by CASCO, Focusing on Cutting-edge Technological Developments Amid Internationalized Demands

26 Jul 2024

The 24th COTA International Conference of Transportation Professionals (CICTP) was held in Shenzhen from July 23 to 26. Jointly organized by the Overseas Chinese Scholars Association in Transportation and Shenzhen Technology University, this conference is one of the largest and most recognized international events in the field of transportation in China. During the conference, CASCO Signal Ltd., Shanghai Engineering Research Center of Driverless Train Control of Urban Guided Transport, and Shanghai Rail Transit Intelligent Train Control Technology Innovation Center were invited to host the sub-forum of "Frontier Technologies in Rail Transit", also known as the 9th Seminar for Knowledge that Yields (SKY). The forum focused on forward-looking technological developments amid internationalized demands, and invited industry experts to engage in discussions and exchanges.

Professor Luo Qin, Executive Chairman of this year's CICTP, and Wang Xiaoyong, Chairman of this sub-forum, General Manager of CASCO's Urban Rail Transit Product Center, and Director of Shanghai Engineering Research Center of Driverless Train Control of Urban Guided Transport, delivered opening remarks. Wang Xiaoyong pointed out that the development of rail transit is characterized by internationalized demands. In this context, it is essential to empower the sustainable development of the industry with cutting-edge technologies, plan and promote new products and technologies with a forward-looking mindset of "applying one generation, researching and developing one generation, and reserving one generation."

During the forum, dozens of technical experts from institutions such as the Academy of Transportation Sciences of the Ministry of Transport, the Smart City Joint Laboratory of the China Urban Scientific Research Association, Tongji University, Beihang University, and Hubei University of Technology gathered to discuss the development and application of frontier technologies in rail transit. Based on the achievements, situations, and priorities of rail transit standards, they explored how to achieve deep integration of emerging technologies with core business scenarios,  with advanced technologies such as multi-source ubiquitous sensing, trustworthy artificial intelligence, big data, and the Internet of Things, thus enabling the iteration of rail transit from high automation to autonomous intelligence, and facilitating the high-quality international development of urban rail transit.

Zhang Xuan, Assistant General Manager of CASCO's Urban Rail Transit Product Center, introduced the XiDRT Digital Urban Rail Transit Solution. With intelligent operation control platform and intelligent operation and maintenance platform as the core, this solution integrates applications such as intelligent station, intelligent depot, and intelligent train control, supporting flexible configuration of technical solutions under diverse demands. Through a series of application scenario cases, Zhang Xuan elaborated on how XiDRT enhances the safety and resilience of urban rail transit operations showcasing the effectiveness of "AI+Rail Transit" technology applications leveraging core technologies such as "data, intelligence, and cloud." As an important technological achievement advancing the digital transformation of the urban rail transit industry, XiDRT perfectly aligns with the fundamental requirements of sustainable rail transit—safety, efficiency, convenience, economy, resilience, inclusiveness, and environmental friendliness. Its outstanding performance received high praise from the participating experts.

CASCO has long been focused on new theories, technologies, and equipment in the rail transit industry, embarking on an innovative path of empowering industry development with new technologies such as artificial intelligence, big data, and cloud computing. At the same time, facing the practical issues of deep integration of new technologies and the industry, CASCO is actively seeking solutions. It is believed that the holding of this forum will provide new ideas and directions for the research and advancement of hotspots and difficulties within the industry, as well as the industrial application of new technologies.
